Thermal insulation of the plinth
The plinth of the outer wall is a place where the thermal insulation of the wall above the ground and that of the basement or of the foundations meet. This part of the wall must be fitted with insulation down to the non-freezing depth level (about 80 cm below the ground) so that the foundations do not get frozen through or even corner moulds develop. Such insulation should resist mechanical damage and also water which may collect at the plinth after rain or from thawing snow.
