Fire protection of ducts

Ventilation ducts are nowadays a part of a number of buildings, especially in constructions designed for the general public with a high concentration of people and therefore increased requirements for protection from fire spreading through the ventilation duct. Products made of stone wool are used for fire protections of ducts – this material is fire resistant and its melting point is above 1000 °C. From the fire protection viewpoint, Isover products are one of the safest materials – constructions protected with them have a higher fire resistance. The fire insulation of rectangular ventilation ducts includes Orstech 65 H – technical slabs, while Orstech LSP PYRO is a lamella mat used for circular duct. The design may result in achieving a fire resistance of 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
